Fannie Mae - A Federally chartered enterprise owned by private stockholders which purchases residential mortgages and coverts them into securites for sale to investors. Fannie Mae supplies the funds that lenders loan to borrowers.
Federal Reserve Board - The Federal Reserve Board provides consumer information, including a section dedicated to home mortgages. The Federal Reserve Board's home mortgage section covers topics such as finding the best mortgage and understanding ARMs.

Freddie Mac - Similar to Fannie, Freddie Mac is another Federally chartered enterprise which purchases residential mortgages and securitizes them. Freddie Mac is another large provider of funds which lenders loan to borrowers.
